Continuing Education
We proudly offer continuing education courses to help you keep abreast of the latest in lighting design, technology, sustainability, and lighting ergonomics. Our courses not only teach valuable knowledge, but also inspire creativity and can greatly expand your vision of lighting in the built environment.
Members of many professional organizations, such as American Institute of Architects, NCQLP (National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions), IIDA (International Interior Design Association, ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), IDC (Interior Designers of Canada) are required to earn CEU units or credits to demonstrate their current knowledge and to maintain professional standard. Each continuing education credit is certified for an AIA/CES and IDCEC continuing education unit (CEU).
Our course content can be delivered virtually or as in-person interactive experiences at your organization. Contact [email protected] to schedule a CEU.

About this Course:
Many designers and engineers have made great strides in reducing the amount of power needed for a lighting design solution. As we strive to decarbonize we can look deeper into questions of materials used in luminaires. Where are they sourced? Are harmful chemicals used? Are the luminaires designed with the least amount of carbon footprint possible? How is this measured? These and other questions will be discussed along with a presentation of an example of an environmental impact report for lighting materials and a design philosophy that puts sustainability first and foremost in design decisions.
Learning Objective 1:
Understand the multifaceted nature of sustainability assessments and their pivotal role in shaping environmentally conscious decision-making within the lighting industry.
Learning Objective 2:
Learn about sustainability standards, certifications, and declarations for lighting products.
Learning Objective 3:
Learn about materials and compounds and what to look out for when choosing a lighting system for projects with sustainable goals.
Learning Objective 4:
See an example of an environmental impact report of lighting manufacturing and the complex processes behind it.
